Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree required.
• 3–5 years experience in a patient care or clinical setting.

Responsibilities

• Supervises departmental technical operations and HR.
• Promotes strong customer service with zero tolerance for inappropriate or suboptimal performance.
• Acts as interdepartmental liaison resolving operational and technical problems within department and between laboratory and other departments.
• Investigates specimen problems, service complaints and any delays in performance of procedures.
• Advises physicians and hospital departments; assumes management functions in concert with the division manager.
• Develops, evaluates and implements new procedures to improve function.
• Ensures CAP, CLIA, ASC p regulatory standards are met within the area.
• Maintains documents and manuals, reviewing and revising as necessary for cost-effective delivery of lab services.
• Monitors workflow, staffing assignments and productivity; recommends changes to improve efficiency.
• Provides training and in-services for staff to meet regulatory compliance and ongoing education.
• Coaches and counsels staff; promotes development.
• Maintains good inter-employee relationships.
• Leads by example according to the OhioHealth mission, vision and values.
• Provides orientation and ongoing instruction to personnel; supports continuing education in technical and managerial areas.
• May perform responsibilities of Med Techs and Lab Specialists as required, including testing, method validation, QA and continuing education.
