South Shore Hospital is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to perform venipuncture, fingerstick, and heelstick procedures with care and accuracy. You will identify patients, label specimens, and ensure timely transport of samples to the laboratory while maintaining bedside labeling protocols.

The role requires attention to safety, proper use of the handheld and barcode systems, and collaboration with the laboratory and nursing staff to support workflow and patient care.

Formación

• Equivalent of four years of high school education preferred.
• One year of full-time phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Certified or certified eligible with National Phlebotomy Association preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Performs phlebotomy (venipuncture, fingerstick, and heelstick) according to established procedure.
• Identifies patients and properly labels specimen tubes.
• Determines priority of STAT draws and ensures timely transport of specimens to lab.
• Utilizes computers for order entry and generating collection lists.
• Organizes work and completes workload statistics.
• Assists co-workers and communicates with lab departments to ensure orderly workflow.
• Helps train new employees and student interns under supervision.
• Follows all hospital policies and safety procedures.
• Acts as receptionist when required and greets patients in outpatient lab.
• Maintains cleanliness and proper stocking of phlebotomy areas.
• Records daily refrigerator temperature and reports any issues.
• Adopts technology solutions to improve work processes.
