Job summary

OU Health in Oklahoma City is seeking a Phlebotomist - Inpatient for Sunday-Thursday 0000-0830. You will perform advanced phlebotomy procedures, handle specimens, and ensure accurate labeling and timely transport to the lab.

The role requires 1–3 years (Level 1) or more experience with appropriate certifications. You will work under supervision in the OUMC Clinical Pathology Lab and contribute to patient care and data accuracy.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; completion of phlebotomy training or on-the-job training.
• 1–3 years experience for Level 1, 3–5 years for Level 2, 5+ years for Level 3.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) from AHA required.
• Phlebotomy certifications must be current as per level.
• Knowledge of phlebotomy procedures, safety rules, and HIPAA policies.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine phlebotomy procedures, drawing blood and handling samples as ordered.
• Ensure properly identified and labeled specimens per policies.
• Register patients, order tests, and verify billing information.
• Enter patient data and tests into the lab information system.
• Prepare specimens for transport and ensure prompt delivery to the laboratory.
• Maintain accurate records and comply with safety policies and PPE use.
• Complete annual competency assessment and pursue professional development.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
