Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and phlebotomy training; Level 2 requires 3–5 years of experience and BLS with a valid phlebotomy certificate.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED and completion of a phlebotomy training course or on-the-job training.
• 1–5 years of phlebotomy experience depending on level; Level 1: 1–3 years, Level 2: 3–5 years.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; phlebotomy certification preferred (ASCP-B OC, NHCO, CPT/NPS).

Responsibilities

• Perform routine phlebotomy procedures and collect blood samples as ordered by physicians.
• Ensure properly identified and labeled specimens per procedures and lab policies.
• Register patients, order tests, and verify billing information; enter demographic and test data into the lab system.
• Prepare specimens for transport and ensure prompt delivery to the lab; comply with safety policies and PPE use.
