Job summary

Duke University Health System Clinical Laboratories is seeking a Clinical Tech I/Phlebotomist to join a state-of-the-art lab team in Durham, NC. The role involves phlebotomy, specimen preparation, and processing for diagnostic testing.

Eligible candidates have at least 2 years of relevant experience or certification as a Phlebotomist, with strong attention to detail and professional communication. On-site work week: Mon-Fri, 3am-9:30am, with relocation and commitment bonuses offered.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED; structured phlebotomy training and clinical rotation recommended.
• Certification as a Phlebotomist may be required for Phlebotomy assignment.
• Must have at least 2 years of experience as Clinical Tech I or Phlebotomist-certified.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and specialized phlebotomy and specimen processing tasks.
• Prepare tests and procedures including cytogenetics, urinalysis, and other lab work.
• Ensure correct labeling, volume measurement, and proper specimen handling.
• Communicate professionally with patients and healthcare staff.
• Maintain accurate lab records and patient identification throughout procedures.
• Utilize hospital information systems to enter orders and track specimens.
• Assist with equipment maintenance and safety/compliance procedures.
• Support with office tasks and general department needs.
