Job summary

UnityPoint Health in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking a dependable Pharmacy Technician to join the Inpatient Pharmacy. The Technician I assists the pharmacist, performs label and distribution tasks, and ensures accuracy in drug charges.

National certification and Iowa registration are required; the hospital environment is fast-paced and team-oriented. Previous pharmacy experience and advanced degrees are preferred but not required; training and growth opportunities are provided through UnityPoint

Qualifications

Pharmacy technician certification and state registration required or in progress.
Previous pharmacy experience preferred but not required.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented hospital environment.
Nationally certified and Iowa registered as a Pharmacy Technician.

Responsibilities

Receive, prepare, label and distribute pharmaceuticals; maintain records and review patient charges.
Adhere to quality control and dispensing protocols; attention to detail in product preparation and dispensing.
Knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology, drug dosages, forms and names.
Knowledge of department software (e.g. Epic/Hypnos/Kronos) and troubleshooting automated dispensing machines.
Assist with inventory management and cost-effective utilization; communicate unusual usage patterns.
Perform pharmacy department inspections and other cleaning duties as assigned.
Provide customer service and effective communication with staff and patients.
