Job summary

Mercy Cedar Rapids is seeking an Inpatient Pharmacy Technician II to support medication inventory management, preparation, and delivery under pharmacist supervision. This role requires prior pharmacy experience and current Iowa Certified Pharmacy Technician registration.

The position involves filling and delivering medications, maintaining inventory accuracy, and assisting with sterile/non-sterile preparation while adhering to USP <795>, <797>, and <800> standards. Weekend/holiday rotations may apply.

Qualifications

• Must be registered with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy as a Certified Pharmacy Technician.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Maintain active registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician.
• Able to lift 20-50 lbs occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Maintain knowledge of pharmacy terminology, pharmacology, and pharmacotherapy.
• Fill, label, and deliver medications throughout the hospital.
• Maintain inventory counts and expiration dates in pharmacy automation.
• Receive, unpack, restock medications and supplies.
• Triage phone calls and take detailed messages.
• Assist with preparation of emergency kits and carts.
• Perform basic calculations for compounded medications and inventory optimization.
