Qualifications

• High School or equivalent is required.
• Current pharmacy technician certification and/or license applicable to state of practice.
• Current knowledge of state and federal regulations and statutes regarding the practice of pharmacy and the distribution of approved drugs, controlled substances, and investigational agents.

Responsibilities

• Assists the pharmacist in collecting clinical and other patient information and maintaining records as required by regulation and policy.
• Utilizes pharmacy technology to prepare medication orders, performs necessary calculations, and compounds medications per site policies and state law.
• Attains supervision and accuracy checks by the pharmacist and understands when verification is required.
• Maintains medication supplies and monitors controlled substance inventories for security and cost effectiveness.
• Communicates with caregivers and participates in quality and patient safety initiatives, escalating urgent items to the pharmacist.
