Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required.
• Indiana Pharmacy Tech-In Training OR Indiana Pharmacy Technician License OR intern/extern license if enrolled in accredited college of pharmacy.
• Pharmacy Technician National Certification within one year of hire unless enrolled in accredited college of pharmacy or ASHP/ACPE accredited program.
• No criminal history related to ability to work with drugs.
• Strong mathematical calculation skills.
• Ability to learn basic pharmacy technician skills under supervision or defined procedures.
• Ability to learn written and communication skills.
• Ability to learn and execute customer services skills.
• Basic proficiency typing and using Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Support the pharmacy department in inventory, preparation, distribution, compounding, processing of medications and supplies, and medication histories.
• Assist with medication processing including answering telephones, taking refill orders, entering orders, and preparing medications for pharmacist check.
• Prepare medications for disbursement/shipment/delivery and maintain records.
• Handle supplies, stock prepackaged items, maintain inventory, deliver supplies.
• May assist in bulk compounding and preparation of IV solutions.
• Collaborate with pharmacy staff to minimize medication errors.
