Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or G.E.D.
• Requires a valid Pharmacy Technician license from the State of Michigan.
• Requires at least one year of experience as a Hospital Pharmacy Technician and/or Retail Pharmacy Technician.
• Requires the ability to maintain records and perform calculations.
• Must have the ability to safely handle cytotoxic and other special drugs and work aseptically in a vertical flow hood.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision of the pharmacist, prepares and pre-packages chemotherapy medications and/or other medications requiring special handling.
• Reads and transcribes prescription orders and prepares prescription labels for medication dispensed.
• Maintains appropriate records of medications dispensed.
• Prepares preliminary drug therapy monitoring forms for use by pharmacists.
• Restocks the drug dispensing areas and maintains cleanliness and aseptic conditions.
