Job summary

Henry Ford Health West Bloomfield is seeking a Full-Time Pharmacy Technician Inpatient Advance Drug Therapy to join our inpatient pharmacy team. You will work under a pharmacist to process orders, prepare chemotherapy medications and other agents requiring special handling.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, Michigan pharmacy technician license, and at least one year of hospital or retail pharmacy experience.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED.
• Requires valid Michigan Pharmacy Technician license.
• Minimum 1 year hospital or retail pharmacy experience.
• Ability to handle cytotoxic drugs and work aseptically.
• Ability to read literature and protocols related to special handling.

Responsibilities

• Under pharmacist supervision, prepares and pre-packages chemotherapy medications and/or other medications requiring special handling.
• Reads and transcribes prescription orders and prepares prescription labels for medications dispensed.
• Maintains appropriate records of medications dispensed.
• Prepares preliminary drug therapy monitoring forms for use by pharmacists.
• Restocks dispensing areas and maintains aseptic conditions of the Class II Vertical Flow Hood and/or other required equipment.
• Assists in training hospital personnel in the safe handling of chemotherapeutic and/or other special agents.
