Job summary

Henry Ford Hospital - Detroit Main Campus is seeking an Infusion Adv. Pharmacy Technician to support the preparation and packaging of chemotherapy and other medications requiring special handling under pharmacist supervision.

The role involves reading prescription orders, labeling medications, maintaining dispensing records, and assisting with staff training and program development for safe handling of sensitive agents.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED.
• Requires a valid Pharmacy Technician license from the State of Michigan.
• Requires at least one year of experience as a Hospital Pharmacy Technician and/or Retail Pharmacy Technician (retail experience applies only to medication history positions).

Responsibilities

• Under the supervision of the pharmacist, prepares and pre-packages chemotherapy medications and/or other medications requiring special handling, preparation or accountability.
• Reads and transcribes prescription orders and prepares prescription labels for medication dispensed.
• Maintains appropriate records of medications dispensed.
• Prepares preliminary drug therapy monitoring forms for use by pharmacists in assessing drug treatment.
• Restocks the drug dispensing areas and maintains the cleanliness and aseptic conditions of the Class II Vertical Flow Hood and/or other required equipment.
• Assists in preparing and presenting programs and protocols involving proper handling of chemotherapeutic and/or other special agents.
• Assists in training hospital personnel in the safe handling of chemotherapeutic and/or other special agents.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

GENERAL SUMMARY:
