Southern California Hospitals is seeking a Department Supervisor to lead and develop the nursing team within the department. You will supervise staff, collaborate with Charge Nurses, House Supervisors, providers, and other departments to identify and resolve clinical and operational concerns, reporting to the Director of Nursing.

Responsibilities include staffing, scheduling, coaching, and maintaining safety and quality of care.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of nursing experience with a minimum of 1 year in a leadership role in a hospital environment
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing
• Active, current, and unencumbered Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California
• AHA Basic Life Support
• AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support
• Strong time management skills and ability to effectively prioritize tasks.
• Understanding of patient classification and staffing requirements for the patient population
• Hospital Fire and Life Safety Card (Los Angeles City Employees only)

Responsabilités

• Direct supervision and frontline leadership; coach staff; address performance and attendance concerns.
• Coaches, trains, counsels, and disciplines staff; participates in performance reviews and hiring decisions.
• Develops staffing schedules and handles payroll/timekeeping.
• Oversees daily department operations; manages patient flow and staffing to address operational needs in real time.
• Evaluates staffing needs based on census and acuity; adjusts schedules accordingly.
• Monitors safety and environment of care; escalates concerns.
• Provides clinical leadership; guides staff and ensures practice standards.
• Maintains clinical knowledge and delivers staff education.
• Supports complex patient care; ensures patient safety and timely intervention.
• Intervenes in abuse/neglect cases and refers to resources.
• Coordinates care with other disciplines; conducts patient rounds and ensures service recovery.
• Promotes communication between patients, families, staff, and providers; addresses barriers.
• Maintains visibility across shifts.
• Communicates priorities and follow-up needs to staff.
• Demonstrates empathy and caring in patient interactions.
• Monitors performance data; drives improvement with action plans.
