Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs seeks Inpatient Medical Support Assistants for Omaha VAMC Inpatient Wards. You will coordinate patient admissions, discharges and transfers, and enter data in VISTA/CPRS to support clinical staff.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic medical terminology and patient care support.
• Ability to communicate with patients and staff to coordinate care.
• Experience with office equipment and scheduling systems.
• Experience in scheduling and rescheduling patient appointments.
• Proven customer service skills in a healthcare setting.
• Typing ability of at least 30 words per minute with accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Coordination of patient admissions, discharges and transfers.
• Completion of discharge, admission and transfer paperwork.
• Entering patient information in VISTA/CPRS and related systems.
• Manage frequent in-person and phone requests and inquiries.
• Schedule medical appointments according to scheduling guidelines.
