Job summary

Medasource is partnering with a regional health system to hire experienced Inpatient Medical Coders for a fully remote 6-month contract. This role supports high-acuity, multi-specialty cases and is ideal for coders with strong experience handling complex inpatient cases.

Primary duties include inpatient coding across diverse specialties, assigning codes per regulatory standards, and maintaining productivity with high accuracy in a fast-paced environment. Remote PST-hours.

Qualifications

• Certified coding credentials preferred; RHIT or RHIA considered.
• Minimum of three years of inpatient coding experience.
• Strong multi-specialty inpatient coding background.
• Experience with Epic EHR and 3M encoder.

Responsibilities

• Perform inpatient coding across specialties such as Cardiology, Neurology, Surgical, Transplants, NICU, and other complex inpatient cases.
• Assign accurate diagnosis and procedure codes per standards.
• Maintain timely and accurate coding in a high-acuity environment.
• Consistently meet productivity and quality expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform accurate inpatient coding across a wide range of specialties, including: Cardiology, Neurology, Surgical cases, Transplants, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Additional complex inpatient cases
• Assign appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes in accordance with organizational, regulatory, and industry standards
• Maintain timely and accurate coding in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
• Consistently meet established productivity and quality expectations

Qualifications

• Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification preferred; RHIT or RHIA credentials will also be considered
• Minimum of three years of inpatient coding experience
• Strong multi-specialty inpatient coding background
• Experience working within an academic medical center or trauma facility preferred
• Proficiency with Epic EHR
• Experience using the 3M encoder
