Job summary

Crossing Hurdles is seeking an experienced inpatient coder to review medical records for precise ICD-10-CM/PCS coding. You will verify documentation and ensure coding integrity across patient charts.

Responsibilities include identifying principal/secondary diagnoses and POA indicators, validating MS-DRG assignments, and flagging hospital-acquired conditions. You will also compare AI-generated notes to ensure alignment with official coding standards.

Qualifications

• Active CIC, CCS, or equivalent AHIMA/AAPC certification.
• Strong experience with inpatient ICD-10-CM/PCS coding.
• Access to official ICD-10-CM/PCS coding books and Coding Clinic guidance.
• Currently employed in inpatient medical coding or clinical documentation improvement.

Responsibilities

• Review inpatient medical records for accurate ICD-10-CM/PCS coding.
• Verify documentation accuracy and coding integrity across records.
• Identify principal/secondary diagnoses, sequence codes, and POA indicators.
• Validate MS-DRG assignments and flag hospital-acquired conditions.
• Evaluate AI-generated notes against coding standards and real-world docs.
• Resolve discrepancies in diagnosis and procedures.
