Job summary

Mercy seeks a detail-oriented Financial Counselor to assist patients with alternative financing and financial assistance applications, including Medicaid. You will educate patients on financial policies, document actions, and support ongoing Point-of-Service initiatives, focusing on uninsured and underinsured individuals.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Degree or equivalent.
• Experience in Revenue Cycle, healthcare billing or insurance is preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word; strong PC and keyboarding skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with alternative financing or assistance and with completing financial statements.
• Provide support for Medicaid and other federal program applications.
• Document actions taken and respond to patient inquiries; research problem accounts.
• Support Point-of-Service initiatives and provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
