Qualifications

• Active AHIMA or AAPC coding credential.
• At least 1 year of inpatient coding experience within last 6 months.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding guidelines.
• Working knowledge of MS-DRG assignment and validation.
• Ability to interpret complex inpatient documentation and apply guidelines.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and quality.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with clients and team.
• Passing score of 80% on pre-employment assessments.

Responsibilities

• Review inpatient records and assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes per standards.
• Maintain 95%+ quality while meeting production expectations.
• Review and validate MS-DRG assignments and address discrepancies.
• Abstract relevant clinical data from inpatient records.
• Research and resolve inpatient coding-related claim edits.
• Apply current coding guidelines and client-specific practices.
• Stay updated on ICD-10-CM/PCS changes and MS-DRG methods.
• Participate in client meetings, training, and development.
• Collaborate with client staff on coding and documentation questions.
• Take on additional responsibilities to support the team.
