  • Active AHIMA or AAPC coding credential.
  • At least 1 year of inpatient coding experience within last 6 months.
  • Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding guidelines.
  • Working knowledge of MS-DRG assignment and validation.
  • Ability to interpret complex inpatient documentation and apply guidelines.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and quality.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with clients and team.
  • Passing score of 80% on pre-employment assessments.

As an Inpatient Coder III at Savista, you’ll play an important role in ensuring accurate, compliant coding that supports our clients’ financial and clinical data needs. You’ll use your inpatient coding expertise to review complex clinical documentation, assign accurate ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes, validate MS-DRG assignments, and help identify and resolve coding-related claim edits. This is an opportunity to leverage your coding knowledge in a collaborative environment while staying current with evolving coding guidelines, regulations, and industry best practices. You may also have opportunities to work directly with client teams and providers on coding-related questions and documentation clarification.

What You’ll Do
  • Review inpatient medical records and accurately assign ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes while meeting established productivity and quality standards.
  • Maintain a consistent 95% or greater quality level while working at commercially reasonable production rates.
  • Review and validate MS-DRG assignments, identifying discrepancies and opportunities for correction.
  • Accurately abstract relevant clinical data from inpatient medical records.
  • Research and resolve inpatient coding-related claims scrubber edits, including diagnosis and procedure-related edits.
  • Apply current coding guidelines, conventions, regulatory requirements, and client-specific coding practices to each account you support.
  • Stay up to date on changes to ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, Official Coding Guidelines, and MS-DRG methodology.
  • Participate in Savista and client meetings, training sessions, and other professional development opportunities as directed by management.
  • Collaborate with client staff and providers as needed to address coding and documentation-related questions.
  • Take on additional responsibilities and projects as needed to support the team and our clients.
What You’ll Bring
  • An active AHIMA or AAPC coding credential.
  • At least one year of recent inpatient coding experience, specific to the patient type for the role, within the last six months.
  • Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding guidelines and conventions.
  • Working knowledge of MS-DRG assignment and validation.
  • The ability to confidently interpret complex inpatient clinical documentation and apply appropriate coding guidelines.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to coding accuracy and quality.
  • The ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with clients and team members.
  • A passing score of 80% on applicable pre-employment assessments.
Compensation

Savista is required by state-specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The salary range for this role is $22.08 - $34.69 per hour. Specific compensation within this range will vary based on several factors, including geographic location, relevant experience, applicable certifications, and skills.
