Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in a CAHIIM accredited program or equivalent experience
• One year inpatient coding experience or completion of Houston Methodist coding apprenticeship/transition program
• RHIT/RHIA/CCS certification required

Responsibilities

• Assign ICD-10-CM/ICD-10-PCS codes for inpatient encounters according to documentation
• Query physicians to clarify diagnoses/procedures per policy
• Ensure coding accuracy and compliance with AHIMA guidelines and hospital policy
• Maintain effective communication with coding team and stakeholders
