Job summary

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED, required.
• Licenses/Certifications: RHIT, RHIA, CCA, CCS, or CIC required.
• Four years of hospital coding or auditing experience.
• Experience in level 1 trauma facility/academic setting preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT coding principles.
• Knowledge of 3M Coding applications.
• Working knowledge of reimbursement systems and policies.
• Knowledge of database applications and spreadsheet design.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conducts regular coding audits and monitors accuracy.
• Develops and coordinates coding staff education sessions.
• Serves as resource for coding standards and guidelines.
• Designs audit tools to monitor coding accuracy.
• Keeps up to date with coding guidelines and reimbursement rules.
• Performs trend analyses of coding practices.
• Adheres to AHIMA ethics and official coding guidelines.
• Ensures safe care and compliance with Memorial Hermann policies.
• Supports staff development as preceptor and mentor.
• Delivers compassionate, personalized experiences to patients and colleagues.
