Job summary

Piedmont Healthcare Corporate is seeking an Inpatient Coder to review, analyze, and code hospital inpatient documentation. The role focuses on selecting and sequencing ICD-9-CM/ICD-10-CM/ICD-10-PCS codes to support accurate hospital billing during the ICD-10 transition.

Responsibilities include ensuring correct code sequencing for inpatient records. Candidates should have a GED or higher and AHIMA-certified training; RHIA/RHIT/CCS-type certifications are required or preferred depending on

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • AHIMA-accredited Coding Certificate is preferred.
  • One or more certifications (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCA, CCS-P, CPC, CPC-A, CPC-H) are required.

Overview: Reviews, analyzes, and codes documentation for hospital inpatient medical records to select and sequence the appropriate ICD-9-CM diagnosis, ICD-9-CM procedure codes, ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS as applicable to the transition to ICD-10.
