Job summary

Medasource is partnering with a regional health system to hire experienced Inpatient Medical Coders for a fully remote contract opportunity. This role supports high-acuity, multi-specialty cases and requires solid experience with complex inpatient coding.

Key responsibilities include coding across cardiology, neurology, surgical cases, transplants, NICU, and other complex inpatient scenarios. Epic EHR and 3M encoder proficiency are preferred.

Qualifications

• Preference for CCS certification; RHIT/RHIA considered.
• Minimum three years of inpatient coding experience.
• Experience across multiple inpatient specialties is required.
• Experience in academic medical center or trauma facility is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform accurate inpatient coding across a wide range of specialties.
• Assign proper diagnosis and procedure codes per standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform accurate inpatient coding across a wide range of specialties, including: Cardiology, Neurology, Surgical cases, Transplants, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Additional complex inpatient cases
• Assign appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes in accordance with organizational, regulatory, and industry standards
• Maintain timely and accurate coding in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
• Consistently meet established productivity and quality expectations

Qualifications

• Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification preferred; RHIT or RHIA credentials will also be considered
• Minimum of three years of inpatient coding experience
• Strong multi-specialty inpatient coding background
• Experience working within an academic medical center or trauma facility preferred
• Proficiency with Epic EHR
• Experience using the 3M encoder
