Job summary

Regions Hospital is seeking a Certified Pharmacy Technician to join our Inpatient team. This role provides pharmaceuticals to customers under supervision of the Pharmacy Manager and Pharmacist, ensuring accurate dispensing and patient service.

The position requires Minnesota registration and current certification, 1.0 FTE day/evening shifts with every other weekend, and strong math, terminology, typing, English skills, and computer literacy.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited program for pharmacy technicians or MN Board training requirements if registered after January 1, 2013.
• Six months of related experience in a hospital, community or institutional pharmacy.
• Registered as a pharmacy technician with the Minnesota State Board of Pharmacy and current certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board, National Health Career Association.

Responsibilities

• Assist in provision of pharmaceuticals to customers of the pharmacy.
• Work under supervision of the Pharmacy Manager, Pharmacy Technician Supervisor, Lead Pharmacist, Pharmacist, Certified Lead Pharmacy Technician to support operations.
• Support dispensing, stocking, and billing processes.

Position Summary:

Works under the supervision of the Pharmacy Manager, Pharmacy Technician Supervisor, Lead Pharmacist, Pharmacist, Certified Lead Pharmacy Technician to assist in the provision of pharmaceuticals to customers of the pharmacy and perform related duties as assigned.

Work Schedule:

1.0 FTE; Day/Evening with every other weekend rotation

Required Qualifications:

Licensure/Registration/Certification:

• Registered as a pharmacy technician with the Minnesota State Board of Pharmacy and have current certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board,National Health Career Association.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of medical terminology and medical abbreviations.
• Basic mathematical skills to compute proportions and compounds.
• Ability to type/keyboard.
• Ability to proficiently read, write, and speak English.
• Knowledge of brand and generic drug names.
• Knowledge of state and federal laws pertaining to prescriptions.
• Knowledge of insurance plan rules relating to eligible drugs.
• Knowledge of computerized pharmacy record keeping and credit procedures.
• Knowledge of hospital or retail pharmacy’s procedures for filling, dispensing, and billing prescriptions.
• Ability to use computers, automated dispensing machines, medication safety system, medication packager, controlled substances safe, prescription scanning/filling/checking system.

Preferred Qualifications:

Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination:

• Completion of an accredited program for pharmacy technicians or completion of MN Board of Pharmacy Technician training requirements if registered as a pharmacy technician after January 1st, 2013.
• Six (6) months of related experience in a hospital, community or institutional pharmacy
