University of Utah Health in Salt Lake City seeks an experienced inpatient facility coder to support Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) within Health Information Management. The role focuses on accurate ICD-10-CM/PCS coding, MS-DRG/APR-DRG assignments, and data abstraction with adherence to CMS guidelines.

Required are strong medical terminology and coding knowledge, plus experience with Epic and 3M tools.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three (3) years of experience coding inpatient facility (HB).
• Current RHIA/RHIT/CCS certification with AHIMA.
• Bachelor's or Associate's degree in a related field preferred.

Responsabilités

• Performs thorough review of medical records for identification of relevant clinical diagnoses and procedures.
• Assigns principal and secondary ICD-10-CM/PCS codes and sequences codes for MS-DRG/APR-DRG assignment.
• Assigns POA indicators for each diagnosis code.
• Abstracts data elements such as Admit Type, Admit Source, and Discharge Disposition.
• Adheres to official coding guidelines and compliant query practices.
