Job summary

Stanford Health Care is seeking an Inpatient Coding Specialist II to review medical records, assign ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT-4 codes, and support accurate MS-DRG/APR-DRG grouping. You will verify discharge disposition, admission sources for reporting, and maintain compliance with CMS, UHDDS, and CCI edits.

The role requires proficiency with 3M Encoder, 3M CDIS, 3M Audit Expert, Epic, and MS Office, along with the ability to work independently and communicate effectively with CDSs and medical staff.

Qualifications

• Requires passing the Coder Proficiency Exam (pre-hire).

Responsibilities

• Review medical record documentation and assign ICD-10 diagnosis and procedure codes for MS-DRG/APR-DRG.
• Abstract required data per facility specifications.
• Monitor Discharged Not Billed accounts and support revenue cycle.
• Collaborate with CDSs to ensure complete documentation for accurate DRG.
