Job summary

Allegheny Health Network in Pittsburgh is seeking a patient care technician to provide direct patient care, assist with unit coordination, and support nursing staff. You will perform basic nursing procedures for patients in stable condition and assist with acutely ill patients while documenting care in the electronic medical record.

Under RN supervision, you will participate in admissions, discharges, and transfers, maintain patient safety, and support daily activity of the unit.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to perform basic mathematics.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care and documents activities (ADLs, vital signs, I&O, glucose testing, transport).
• Assists with quality initiatives and patient safety, including bedside shift reports and rounds.
• Documents changes in patient condition and reports to nursing staff.
• Performs unit activities such as supply stocking and equipment cleaning.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
