Job summary

Ombudsman Educational Services seeks a Special Education Teacher for our Elementary learning centers in Illinois. You will design personalized lessons for students with IEPs, deliver targeted instruction, and collaborate with staff to support diverse learning needs.

The role requires coordinating with families, maintaining detailed progress records, and implementing PBIS strategies to foster a positive classroom climate. A relevant degree and IL credentials are required or in process.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education or related field.
• IL PEL credential in progress or obtained.
• IL SSE or LBS1 credential in progress or obtained.
• Crisis management training certification in progress or obtained.
• Experience with curriculum development, differentiation and instruction.

Responsibilities

• Create an inclusive, collaborative environment involving students, parents, colleagues and administrators.
• Establish PBIS-based classroom climate with clear expectations.
• Implement and reinforce school-wide PBIS strategies and consequences.
• Track and document student progress and generate detailed reports.
• Deliver differentiated instruction in or out of co-teaching to meet IEP goals.
• Adapt curricula to diverse learning needs and guide staff on differentiation methods.
• Use varied instructional methods and educational software to engage students.
• Manage caseload: develop/update/implement IEPs, goals and interventions.
• Prepare detailed daily lesson plans aligned to standards and objectives.
• Maintain a safe, organized classroom and manage supplies and resources.
• Stay current on evidence-based practices in special education and related areas.
• Respond to feedback from evaluations and pursue ongoing professional growth.
• Support school community with additional duties as assigned.
