Job summary

Coordinated Designs & Controls, an affiliate of Electro-Mechanical LLC, seeks an Electrical Design Engineer for its Metal-Clad Switchgear Division in Houston, TX. You will develop electrical designs, schematics, drawings, and BOMs supporting power distribution products, working with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to translate customer requirements into manufacturable designs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 5 years of electrical design experience in manufacturing, industrial, or OEM environments.
• Hands-on experience developing power and control schematics for electrical equipment.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong ability to read and interpret electrical drawings with attention to detail.
• Experience coordinating with designers or drafters to complete drawing packages and BOMs.
• Solid problem-solving skills and the ability to self-check for accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical power and control schematics for metal-clad switchgear, MCCs, and related equipment.
• Produce accurate electrical drawings and layouts in AutoCAD; review and finalize BOMs.
• Review orders, RFQs, and project docs to ensure design requirements are understood.
• Support RFQ, quotes, and order reviews; provide application-level engineering input to sales.
• Collaborate with Project Engineers, manufacturing, quality, and regulatory teams to resolve issues.
• Ensure design output complies with ANSI, UL, NEC, NEMA, IEEE, MSHA and local codes.
• Develop and maintain design standards, templates, and best practices.
• Assist in cost-reduction and design improvement initiatives.
