Job summary

Prysmian Group seeks a technically strong engineer to join the Specialties, Industrial & Construction design team. You will transform technical requirements into manufacturable cable designs, balancing performance, cost, and compliance, while influencing product capability and plant efficiency.

Reporting to the Design Engineering Manager, you will interact with manufacturing, operations, and commercial teams to deliver solutions and drive continuous improvement across our cable portfolio.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or related field; foundational engineering knowledge essential for interpreting specifications and supporting feasibility assessments.
• 2–4 years of experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment with exposure to technical problem-solving, process understanding, or product-related decision-making.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical writing skills; ability to evaluate specifications, determine compliance, and document conclusions clearly.
• Effective communication across levels; comfortable interacting with operators, engineers, product managers, and leadership to gather information and make informed decisions.
• Self-starter with ability to work independently; proactively reach out to others and collaborate to resolve gray-area decisions.
• Proficiency with Microsoft tools — Excel, PowerPoint, Word; experience with ERP or database systems preferred for managing specifications and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Product Design & Execution: Develop and maintain cable designs, specifications, drawings, and data sheets translating customer requirements into manufacturable solutions.
• Translate customer requirements and industry standards into manufacturable solutions using design systems to generate BOMs and routings.
• Cost & Commercial Support: Generate cost models for quotations and production; analyze cost drivers and support benchmarking across facilities.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with manufacturing, operations, and commercial teams to ensure efficient execution and improve throughput and quality.
• Governance & Compliance: Maintain design systems, SOPs, and product data integrity; ensure designs meet UL, CSA, ICEA, and other standards.
