Job summary

Prysmian, a global leader in energy and telecom cables, is seeking a technically strong design engineer to transform customer requirements into manufacturable cable designs. You will balance performance, cost, and compliance while collaborating with manufacturing, operations and commercial teams to deliver solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or related field; foundational engineering knowledge essential.
• 2–4 years of experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment; problem-solving and feasibility orientation.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical writing skills.
• Effective communication across all levels; independent, proactive mindset.
• Proficiency with Microsoft tools; ERP or database familiarity preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain cable designs, specifications, drawings, and data sheets.
• Translate customer requirements and industry standards into manufacturable solutions.
• Utilize design systems to generate BOMs and routings for manufacturing.
• Generate accurate cost models for quotations and production.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, operations, and commercial teams for efficient execution.
• Maintain design systems, technical instructions, SOPs and data integrity.
• Ensure designs comply with UL, CSA, ICEA and other standards.
• Stay current on regulatory and certification requirements.
• Identify opportunities to enhance products, reduce cost, and improve performance.
