Job summary

Prysmian, the world leader in energy and telecom cable systems, seeks a Senior Application Engineer in Newport, KY. This role blends application engineering, product development, and customer interface in the wire and harness industry.

You will review drawings, create BOMs, collaborate across teams, support ECNs, and help launch new products while driving cost out and improving performance. The ideal candidate will have SolidWorks experience, ERP/PLM/PDM familiarity, and bilingual Spanish

Qualifications

• Bachelor in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specs and technical docs; SolidWorks preferred.
• Experience with manufacturing, wire/cable products, or harnesses.
• Experience with engineering change management and BOM creation/maintenance.
• Experience with ERP/PLM/PDM systems.
• Experience working with customers to resolve technical issues; Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review drawings, specs, and docs to develop new products meeting requirements.
• Create and maintain BOMs for quotes and releases.
• Collaborate with Sales, Product Mgmt, Manufacturing, and Customer Service for technical support.
• Support ECNs and change management processes.
• Serve as liaison between customers and internal manufacturing.
• Assist in updating existing product portfolios and providing technical support.
• Participate in Design-to-Cost initiatives to improve competitiveness.
• Contribute to simplification, sustainability, and continuous improvement of the portfolio.
• Analyze technical needs and align with Prysmian capabilities.
• Coordinate engineering docs, product setup, and manufacturing for launches.

Senior Application Engineer is an intersection of Application Engineering, Product Development and Customer Interface in the wire and harness industry.

Responsibilities

• Review customer drawings, specifications, and technical documentation to develop new products and solutions that meet customer requirements.
• Create and maintain complete Bills of Material (BOMs) for customer quotation packages and production releases.
• Collaborate closely with Sales, Product Management, Manufacturing, and Customer Service teams to provide technical support and product expertise.
• Support engineering change management processes, including reviewing, documenting, and implementing Engineering Change Notices (ECNs).
• Serve as a technical liaison between customers and internal manufacturing.
• Assist in maintaining and improving existing product portfolios through product updates, enhancements, and technical support activities.
• Participate in Design-to-Cost initiatives focused on improving competitiveness while maintaining product performance and quality.
• Contribute to simplification, sustainability, and continuous improvement initiatives across the product portfolio.
• Analyze technical requirements and provide recommendations that align customer needs with Prysmian capabilities.
• Support product launches by coordinating engineering documentation, product setup, and manufacturing implementation activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation. (Solidworks preferred).
• Experience supporting manufacturing operations, wire and cable products, harness assemblies, or other engineered products.
• Knowledge of engineering change management processes and BOM creation/maintenance.
• Experience with ERP, PLM, or product data management systems.
• Experience working directly with customers to resolve technical issues and support product applications.
• Bilingual is preferred (Spanish).
