Job summary

Qualifications

• High School or GED certificate and two years' experience in banking, bookkeeping, or cash handling, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Knowledge of account management procedures; by PC application of spreadsheets
• Typing at least 30 wpm with minimal errors; typing test results may be requested
• Proficiency with personal computers and 10-key calculator by touch; basic office equipment
• Ability to balance cash drawer; basic math; clear, respectful communication with diverse groups; respond to inquiries and maintain records

Responsibilities

• Inventory and log detained individuals' funds and property during booking; store items in vault
• Establish trust funds by entering funds and property into the system
• Post credits and debits to inmate accounts (funds, commissary, newspapers)
• Deliver newspapers and balance receipts to inmates
• Balance cash drawers daily at close of shift
• Close trust funds upon release or transfer of inmate
• Prepare checks as required for transfers or authorized by inmate
• Respond to questions concerning inmates' accounts
• Perform other duties as required
