Job summary

The Florida Department of Corrections seeks a Classification Officer for the Tomoka Correctional Institution. The role involves managing inmates via collaborative case management, ensuring needs are met and resources allocated for rehabilitation and safe housing.

Core duties include assessments, referrals, evaluating information, and maintaining OBIS records. Disciplinary hearings and gain time considerations are also part of the responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Experience in case management using assessments, planning, coordination, and evaluation to meet individuals’ needs.
• Experience reviewing, auditing, analyzing, and/or proofreading data.
• Experience applying laws, applicable rules, and procedures.
• Experience or training in the use of OBIS or related computer programs.

Responsibilities

• Conduct periodic and unscheduled assessments to track inmate progress and develop management plans.
• Plan and coordinate targeted referrals for treatment, programs, work, and services.
• Evaluate information sources to support inmate management decisions.
• Maintain accurate inmate records in OBIS and other systems.
• Lead disciplinary hearings and custody/reclassification recommendations.
