Job summary

Florida Department of Corrections is seeking a Classification Officer at Hamilton Correctional Institution to manage inmate classification and lead case management within the classification department. The role centers on assessments, planning, referrals for treatment, and precise record-keeping in OBIS and related systems.

The position requires meeting four of six qualifications or holding a bachelor’s degree, and reports to the FDC office serving the area.

Qualifications

• Four of the six listed qualifications must be met OR a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Experience in case management using assessments, planning, coordination, and evaluation.
• Experience reviewing, auditing, analyzing, and/or proofreading data.
• Experience applying laws, applicable rules, and procedures.
• Experience or training in the Offender Based Information System (OBIS) and/or related software.
• Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and/or PowerPoint.
• Experience responding to grievances, inmate requests, or other correspondence.

Responsibilities

• Conduct periodic and unscheduled assessments to track inmate progress and develop management plans.
• Coordinate targeted referrals for treatment, programs, work, and services.
• Evaluate information sources to inform inmate management decisions.
• Maintain accurate inmate records in OBIS and other applications.
• Lead disciplinary hearings and contribute to custody and reclassification decisions.
