The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Corrections, seeks a Drug and Alcohol Treatment Specialist 1 at SCI Somerset to support inmates with substance use recovery while building casework and counseling skills.

The role focuses on guiding recovery efforts, maintaining treatment records, and developing individualized plans in a structured, non-telework setting. Benefits include state employment standard protections and retirement eligibility.

Formación

• One year of para-professional experience providing drug and alcohol counseling services.
• Certification by PA Chemical Abuse Certification Board as a Certified Addictions Counselor.
• One year of experience as a Corrections Counselor or Social Worker (Commonwealth job title or equivalent).
• One year of experience in counseling with a bachelor’s in behavioral sciences, or
• A master’s degree with major course work in addictions science, psychology or social work.
• An equivalent combination including 18 college credits in behavioral sciences.
• Applicants may meet education requirements within 3 months of graduation.

Responsabilidades

• Provide counseling and rehabilitation services for individuals in treatment programs.
• Prepare individualized treatment and recovery plans with inmates.
• Lead assigned therapy groups and community meetings.
• Maintain accurate treatment documentation per regulations.
• Conduct assessments and make recommendations with supervisor guidance.
• Participate in meetings with supervisors and treatment teams.
