Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Department of Corrections seeks a Drug and Alcohol Treatment Specialist 2 at SCI Somerset to lead treatment groups, provide counseling, and support inmates’ rehab.

You will document progress and assess needs while ensuring policy compliance. This is a full-time role with standard hours, no telework, and a starting salary of $64,574.00 plus benefits; PA residency requirements apply.

Qualifications

• One year of para-professional and one year of professional experience providing drug and alcohol counseling services directly to clients in a social work setting; or certification by the PA Chemical Abuse Certification Board as a Certified Addictions Counselor.
• One year of experience as Drug and Alcohol Treatment Specialist 1 or two years of professional experience in a social work setting with related degrees.
• An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 18 college credits in behavioral sciences.

Responsibilities

• Lead treatment groups across assigned program areas and promote positive behavioral change.
• Conduct one-on-one counseling sessions and update individualized treatment plans.
• Maintain accurate charts and document required information in accordance with directives.
• Complete assessments and make recommendations based on history and policy requirements.
• Assist with planning and facilitating treatment activities and addressing behavioral issues.
• Provide direction and support to new specialists, students, and volunteers as assigned.
