Job summary

Florida Department of Corrections is hiring a Classification Officer at the Reception and Medical Center. This Career Service role requires managing inmates, coordinating case plans, and ensuring safety and rehabilitation objectives. You will conduct assessments, coordinate referrals, and maintain OBIS records.

Qualifications

• Experience in case management using assessments, planning, and evaluation.
• Experience reviewing, auditing, analyzing, and proofreading data.
• Experience applying laws, rules, and procedures.
• Experience with OBIS or related software.
• Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Experience responding to grievances and inmate inquiries.

Responsibilities

• Manage inmates through collaborative case management; ensure needs are met via communication and resources.
• Plan referrals for treatment, programs, work, and services across departments.
• Evaluate reports, interviews, and observations to guide inmate management decisions.
• Maintain inmate records in OBIS and related systems; compile records as needed.
• Lead disciplinary hearings; make custody and reclassification recommendations; oversee gain time.
