Job summary

The Florida Department of Corrections is seeking a Classification Officer at Lake Correctional Institution to manage inmate needs through collaborative case management and detailed planning. You will coordinate referrals, assess progress, and document decisions in OBIS and related systems.

Qualifications

• Experience in case management that uses assessments, planning, coordination, and evaluation to meet the individuals’ needs.
• Experience reviewing, auditing, analyzing, and/or proofreading data.
• Experience applying laws, applicable rules, and procedures.
• Experience or training in the use of the Offender Based Information System (OBIS) and/or related computer programs or applications.
• Experience with Microsoft applications such Word, Excel, and/or PowerPoint.
• Experience responding to grievances, inmate requests, or other correspondence.

Responsibilities

• Conducting periodic and unscheduled assessments to track inmate progress, set positive adjustment goals, and motivate inmates to achieve them.
• Planning and coordinating targeted referrals for treatment, programs, work, and services to meet both inmate and departmental needs.
• Collaborating with various areas for optimal outcomes.
• Evaluating diverse information sources to make informed decisions on inmate management.
• Maintaining inmate records in OBIS and other applications; compiling records as needed.
