Job summary

Berks County Jail System seeks a Treatment Caseworker to conduct intake interviews and assessments, provide orientation for newly committed inmates, and carry out case management tasks including classifications and referrals.

Responsibilities include preparing inmate paperwork, coordinating with parole authorities and service providers, and maintaining case records. A bachelor's degree in psychology, counseling, or social work and one year in government work are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or related field.
• One year of government setting experience.
• Equivalent combination of experience and training acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Conduct intake interviews, assessments, and screens within 48 hours of admission.
• Provide orientation to newly admitted inmates within 48 hours.
• Create paperwork for inmate files and track intakes.
• Address inmate concerns through case management on units.
• Liaise with parole authorities, court officials, and service providers.
• Perform data gathering, record keeping, and limited clerical tasks.
• Collect and stamp communications and distribute answers.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
