Job summary

Berks Counseling Center, Inc. is seeking a Forensic Counselor to provide screening and assessment and outpatient services to inmates within the Berks County Jail System. This role is part of a team-based, recovery-oriented behavioral health organization delivering holistic care.

Responsibilities include inmate screenings, individual/group/family counseling as appropriate, and timely clinical documentation. Collaboration with BCC and BCJS staff and the jail project care coordinator is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related social service field.
• Ability to work 40 hours per week within agency hours (8am-8pm Mon-Thurs, 8am-4pm Friday with Saturday hours, when applicable).
• One year direct substance abuse counseling experience (or relevant internship) preferred.
• Master’s degree and CAC certification preferred; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide screening and assessment of inmates.
• Provide individual, group, and family counseling as appropriate to inmates.
• Effectively complete all required clinical documentation related to outpatient treatment standards.
• Work collaboratively with BCC and BCJS staff, including the care coordinator of the Jail Project.
