Job summary

Client seeks an Inkjet Application Engineer to transition a custom printing platform from R&D to production for flexible electronics. You will optimize inkjet and micro-pen delivery systems, solve technical challenges, and drive milestones for electronic and RF components for defense and commercial markets.

You will work with sales to translate customer needs into printed prototypes, cost estimates, and production-ready processes, while mentoring junior engineers and documenting procedures.

Qualifications

• At least 7 years of experience in inkjet application development or additive manufacturing, including 2 years on electronic or RF/microwave components.
• Advanced knowledge of industrial inkjet systems, including piezoelectric and thermal printheads and waveform tuning.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting industrial printers, debugging hardware and software issues, and refining print files.

Responsibilities

• Test inks, printheads, and substrates for print quality, cycle time, compatibility, and customer needs.
• Operate and optimize industrial inkjet printers and micro-pen dispensers for high-precision electronic components.
• Evaluate fluid-structure interactions and tune printing waveforms for flexible and RF/microwave electronics.
• Define customer requirements with sales, configure custom printing solutions, produce prototypes, and prepare cost estimates.
• Conduct proof-of-concept evaluations on specialized electronics substrates.
• Support DoD and government research contracts with technical discussions, white papers, proposals, and demonstrations.
• Troubleshoot fluidic, hardware, and software integration issues for field teams and subcontractors.
• Identify risks and implement solutions to ensure defect-free components.
• Visit customers, review progress, develop work plans, and align capabilities to needs.
