We are looking for a mold-making expert first. The ideal candidate has extensive hands-on experience building, repairing, maintaining, modifying, and troubleshooting injection molds and can serve as the technical resource for complex tooling problems.Previous management experience is helpful, but technical injection mold expertise is more important than having held a Manager title.Our injection molding operations include presses ranging from 55 to 300 tons, supporting commercial, engineering, and technical applications.Troubleshoot injection mold tooling and diagnose mold-related production and quality issues.Support hands-on mold repair, maintenance, modification, assembly, fitting, and troubleshooting.Coordinate new mold builds, repairs, preventive maintenance, and outside tooling work.Review mold designs and provide practical mold-making and DFM input.Support mold trials, qualification, and production release.Identify root causes of tooling failures, scrap, and downtime.Recommend tooling improvements to increase mold reliability, performance, and tool life.Provide technical guidance and direction to Mold Makers and Tool Room personnel.Partner with Process Technicians, Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Production to resolve tooling issues.Help prioritize Tool Room projects and tooling support needs.Qualifications10+ years of hands-on injection mold making or injection mold tooling experience.Strong experience building, repairing, maintaining, modifying, and troubleshooting injection molds.Strong understanding of mold construction, components, fitting, shutoffs, parting lines, cooling, venting, ejection systems, and preventive maintenance.Ability to troubleshoot mold-related performance and part-quality issues.Strong blueprint reading and GD&T knowledge.Experience with mold-making processes such as CNC machining, EDM, milling, grinding, and turning.Ability and willingness to remain hands-on with tooling and troubleshooting on the manufacturing floor.Strong technical problem-solving and communication skills.Injection molding environments utilizing 55-ton to 300-ton presses.Tooling for commercial and engineering-grade thermoplastic resins.Hot runner systems and complex injection mold tooling.New mold builds and coordination with outside tool shops.Mold trials, validation, qualification, and new product introduction.Tool & Die, Mold Making, Journeyman, or Apprenticeship certification.Experience mentoring or providing technical direction to other Mold Makers.Medical device or regulated manufacturing experience.Senior Mold Maker | Injection Mold Maker | Lead Mold Maker | Tool & Die Maker | Tool Room Lead | Tooling Engineer | Mold Engineer | Tooling SupervisorYou do not need to currently hold a Manager title to be considered.Why This Role Is DifferentWe aren't looking for a traditional people manager.
