Job summary

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Issaquah is seeking a Per Diem Registered Nurse to join an interdisciplinary care team. You will perform nursing assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, delivering patient-centered care across infusion and oncology services.

The role emphasizes safety in chemotherapy administration, education for patients and families, and collaboration with social workers, dietitians and other specialists.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
• WA RN license or NLC with WA residence requirement.
• Oncology experience or training provided.
• BLS certification renewed every two years.
• ONS Chemotherapy Provider Card within 3 months of hire.
• Strong critical thinking and clinical judgment.
• Time management and independent task organization.
• Excellent communication and listening skills.

Responsibilities

• Assess physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs and evaluate patients' adaptation to health changes.
• Develop a plan of care based on disease, symptoms, and treatment response.
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers on disease processes, treatment, side effects and symptom management.
• Coordinate with inter-disciplinary team to ensure continuity of care.
• Refer patients and families to social work, home health, nutrition, and other resources.
• Administer IV hydration, chemotherapy/biotherapy, and blood products; ensure safe handling of hazardous drugs.
• Follow disposal procedures for hazardous materials; integrate research and evidence into practice.
• Provide patient and family education; conduct learning needs assessment.
• Collaborate with care team; request consultations when needed.
• Participate in continuing education, projects, and quality initiatives.
