Job summary

University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle seeks a Per Diem Registered Nurse for the 8SE Oncology Outpatient Infusion unit. The role provides infusion care to UW Medicine and Fred Hutchinson patients in a nursing-led environment.

Shifts are day shifts on weekdays, up to 10 hours, with a requirement to work at least 4 shifts every 4 weeks; the department emphasizes infusion administration, patient education, and documentation in the EMR.

Qualifications

• Current certification in chemo administration.
• Broad range of chemo infusion experience.
• Experience with all types of central venous access catheters.
• Excellent skills with peripheral IVs.
• BLS.
• Active licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in Washington State.
• 2 years of nursing work experience.

Responsibilities

• Screen patients for administration of medications via IV infusion.
• Ensure patients who are presenting are able to tolerate their infusions.
• Place IVs, access ports, and PICCs.
• Initiate, assess, and observe patients during infusions.
• Disconnect IVs and monitor patients post infusion.
• Document all above activities in the Electronic Medical Record.
• Provide education for patients and their families.
