Job summary

UVA Health is seeking an Infusion Therapy Nurse to coordinate and administer therapeutic IV treatments, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, blood products, and supportive care agents, following established protocols.

You will monitor patients during infusion, manage complications, maintain IV lines and central venous devices, ensure infection control, and complete required certifications within the first year. Strong communication and EHR skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Prior experience in oncology nursing and infusion therapy preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and emotionally challenging environment.
• Knowledge of chemotherapy drugs, their administration, and potential side effects.
• Proficient in using electronic health records (EHR) and other relevant healthcare technology.
• Completion of ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certification within the first year of employment.
• Maintain AHA BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and administer therapeutic IV treatments, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, blood products, and supportive care agents.
• Monitor patients closely during infusion treatments and address complications or adverse reactions.
• Manage infusion therapy–related complications (adverse reactions, infusion site issues).
• Demonstrate expertise in insertion, care, and maintenance of IV lines and central venous devices.
• Ensure infection control practices and standards in vascular access management.
• Complete required chemotherapy/immunotherapy certifications within the first year and maintain BLS.
