Job summary

Metro Infusion Center in Howell, MI is seeking a licensed Nurse Practitioner to supervise and administer infusion therapy on a 3 days per week basis. The clinic operates Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday in Howell, MI.

The NP will place IVs, prepare medications, administer IV therapy, document in the EMR, address patient questions, and ensure safety and compliance with standards. Requires active APRN and infusion experience.

Qualifications

• Licensed APRN with active authorization to practice.
• Two years NP office practice experience, preferably infusion.
• Infusion therapy experience and IV catheter placement desirable.
• Vaccinations up to date per clinic policy.

Responsibilities

• Place and maintain peripheral IV catheters for infusion therapy needs with ongoing assessment of IV site.
• Prepare medication for IV administration as ordered.
• Administer IV therapy via electronic pump with troubleshooting of pump alarms.
• Document infusion charting and patient messages in EMR system.
• Address patient questions or concerns related to adverse effects within scope of practice.
• Use clinical judgment to meet patient care needs and establish priorities.
• Monitor safety and effectiveness of environment and equipment.
• Collaborate with facility staff to ensure good interpersonal communications.
• Cover clinic as needed per direction of the Manager of Clinical Operations.
• Adhere to Standards of Nursing Practice and applicable laws; observe MIDC policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Schedule: 3 days/week (24 hrs/week): Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday

Specific Duties:

• Place and maintain peripheral IV catheters for infusion therapy needs with ongoing assessment of IV site.
• Prepare medication for IV administration as ordered.
• Administer IV therapy via electronic pump with troubleshooting of pump alarms and/or administration via gravity/dial-a-flow tubing.
• Document infusion charting and patient message(s) in EMR system.
• Addressing patient’s questions or concerns related to adverse effects/side effects, diagnosis, treatment etc. within scope of Mid-level provider.
• Uses clinical judgment in evaluation activities to meet patient care needs establishing priorities.
• Monitors the safety and effectiveness of the environment and equipment.
• Participates in activities to facilitate good interpersonal communications with facility.
• Agree to cover any clinic as needed per direction of the Manager of Clinical Operations.
• Supports professional practice by observing the following: Uses knowledge and practices in accordance with 1) Standards of Nursing Practice; 2) JCAHO, state and local laws; 3) MIDC policy.
• Other duties and tasks as assigned

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
• Valid APRN
• At least (2) two years NP office practice experience, preferably in an infusion-related practice
• Infusion experience
• Chemo experience is preferred, but not required
• Proof of current vaccinations, including recommended boosters, commonly required for those working with immunocompromised patients, including measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, hepatitis A & B, influenza, and COVID-19.
