Job summary

Metro Infectious Disease Consultants in Macomb, MI, seeks an Infusion Nurse Practitioner to work every other weekend at the clinic. Schedule: Every other weekend — 26 weekends a year including holidays.

Responsible for infusion care, IV access, and coordination within the clinic. The role requires graduation from an accredited nursing program and a valid APRN license with at least two years of NP office experience, preferably infusion-related.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
• Valid APRN license.
• At least two years NP office practice experience, preferably infusion.
• Infusion experience.
• Chemo experience is preferred, but not required.
• Proof of current vaccinations as required for immunocompromised patients (measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, hepatitis A & B, influenza, COVID-19).

Responsibilities

• Place and maintain peripheral IV catheters for infusion therapy needs with ongoing assessment of IV site.
• Prepare medication for IV administration as ordered.
• Administer IV therapy via electronic pump with troubleshooting of pump alarms and/or administration via gravity/dial-a-flow tubing.
• Document infusion charting and patient messages in EMR system.
• Address patient questions or concerns related to adverse effects/diagnosis/treatment within scope of Mid-level provider.
• Use clinical judgment to meet patient care needs establishing priorities.
• Monitor the safety and effectiveness of the environment and equipment.
• Participate in activities to facilitate good interpersonal communications with facility.
• Agree to cover any clinic as needed per direction of the Manager of Clinical Operations.
• Support professional practice by observing Standards of Nursing Practice; JCAHO, state and local laws; MIDC policy.
• Other duties and tasks as assigned

Schedule: Every other weekend - 26 weekends a year that includes 2 holidays (plus the holiday weekend)

Specific Duties:

• Place and maintain peripheral IV catheters for infusion therapy needs with ongoing assessment of IV site.
• Prepare medication for IV administration as ordered.
• Administer IV therapy via electronic pump with troubleshooting of pump alarms and/or administration via gravity/dial-a-flow tubing.
• Document infusion charting and patient message(s) in EMR system.
• Addressing patient’s questions or concerns related to adverse effects/side effects, diagnosis, treatment etc. within scope of Mid-level provider.
• Uses clinical judgment in evaluation activities to meet patient care needs establishing priorities.
• Monitors the safety and effectiveness of the environment and equipment.
• Participates in activities to facilitate good interpersonal communications with facility.
• Agree to cover any clinic as needed per direction of the Manager of Clinical Operations.
• Supports professional practice by observing the following: Uses knowledge and practices in accordance with 1) Standards of Nursing Practice; 2) JCAHO, state and local laws; 3) MIDC policy.
