Chicago Arthritis & Regenerative Medicine is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to provide infusion and injectable therapies in our outpatient rheumatology practice.

This role emphasizes direct patient care, safe medication administration, patient education, and collaboration with treating providers, with administrative duties including scheduling, records, referrals, and authorization follow-through. Location: 618 W. Fulton St, Chicago.

Qualifications

• BSN degree required.
• Current CPR/BLS and ACLS.
• Strong IV placement skills and clinical judgment.
• 1+ year bedside nursing experience.
• Ability to assess infusion patients and respond to changes.

Responsibilities

• Review orders, records, lab results, and treatment requirements before therapy.

Job description

Chicago Arthritis & Regenerative Medicine is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to provide infusion and injectable therapies for our outpatient rheumatology practice. This position focuses on direct patient care, safe medication administration, patient education, and coordination with our providers. A portion of your work includes administrative duties such as scheduling, records, referrals, and authorization follow through.

Schedule and position details

Regular schedule: Monday through Friday from 8:00am - 4:30pm.

No regularly scheduled weekends or holidays.

Work location: 618 W. Fulton St., Chicago IL.

Reports to the COO for operations and works with treating providers on clinical care.

Clinical responsibilities

Review and enter provider orders, relevant records, laboratory results, and treatment requirements before therapy. Assess patients and escalat clinical concerns to the treating provider.

Establish IV access and prepare and administer prescribed infusion and injectable medications according to provider orders and practice protocols.

Monitor patients throughout treatment, recognize adverse reactions, initiate the appropriate response, and promptly involve the provider.

Document assessments, medication administration, patient response, and follow up instructions accurately in eClinicalWorks (eCW) and WeInfuse.

Educate patients about their treatment, expected effects, symptoms to report, and follow up care.

Maintain infection prevention practices, sterile technique, and safe medication handling.

Maintain clinical readiness of the infusion area, including medication storage, supplies, and emergency equipment.

Coordinate medication and supply needs with the administrative team; confirm that the correct medication is available for scheduled treatment.

Assist with clinic procedures and patient flow as scheduled and within the RN’s scope and training.

Work with providers, billing and Infusion team to identify and resolve barriers before treatment.

Provide clinical information needed for authorizations and appeals, while administrative staff manage submissions and status tracking.

Review clinical suitability and readiness for treatment; escalat unresolved coverage or financial questions to the designated staff before proceeding.

Communicate pending clinical issues, follow up needs, and coverage requirements before leaving each shift.

Participate in applicable clinical and infusion meetings.

Required qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.

Current CPR/BLS and ACLS certifications.

Strong IV placement skills and sound clinical judgment.

Minimum one year bedside nursing experience.

Ability to assess and monitor infusion patients and respond appropriately to changes in condition.

Proficiency with electronic medical records and accurate clinical documentation.

Clear communication, dependable attendance, and a professional, collaborative approach.

Preferred but not required experience

At least three years of nursing experience.

Outpatient infusion, rheumatology, emergency department, critical care, or home infusion experience.

Experience with Remicade, Rituxan, Orencia, Actemra, Simponi, Benlysta, and other specialty therapies.

Experience with eCW, WeInfuse and assisting with minimally invasive procedures.
