Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking an Infusion Center RN for the Melchiorre Cancer Center. The role involves oncology nursing, chemotherapy administration, vascular access management, and central line care to support patients through their cancer treatment journey.

You will collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams, providing education and coordinating care while working 9.5-hour day shifts in the Infusion Center. A NJ RN license and ongoing education are required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program with NJ RN license.
• BSN preferred; IV certification required within 90 days.
• Oncology/chemotherapy certification and ongoing education per CoC guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and reassessments to evaluate patient conditions and responses to care.
• Develop/implement/evaluate plans of care for hematologic and oncologic conditions.
• Administer chemotherapy/biotherapy per protocols and policies.
• Initiate/maintain/monitor IV chemotherapy and vascular access devices; assess for side effects.
• Provide central line care, including flushing, blood draws, dressing changes, and maintenance.
• Recognize emergencies and respond to changes in patient condition.
• Administer blood products per transfusion protocols and monitor for reactions.
• Educate patients/families about treatment plans, side effects, and care needs.
